Lol there is something pretty similar here on Brasil, but instead of Corn, the Indians taught us to grow Mandioca and guarana instead. At least our schools acknowledge the fact we did genocide and enslaved the natives tho.

We where first an portuguese colony, but we also did an considerable ammount of colonisation and expansion on our own. So yeah, we can be considered colonisers

To elaborate, Portugal confined itself mostly to coastal areas. When idependence came about, most of the nothern states territory was still virgin jungle. The empire, in it’s expansion inward, then had it’s share of colonizing the regions and fucking indigenous populations. Even in the 20th century, already a republic, Brazil did some fuckery with indian slavery because of the rubber trade, but this time not so overtly. Guess who wanted the rubber? Well, if it isn’t our good american hero Henry Ford…

Fun fact: USA has so much shit much worse than Tiananmen that even mentioning anything related to it is beyond hypocrisy. Shooting students, bombing protesters with chemicals (with those chemicals drifting off to local school and hospital), BOMBING WHOLE DISTRICTS, BOMBING WORKERS FROM PLANES - the list can go on forever.

And then the colonists didn’t listen to how the natives nixtamalized the corn & suffered from pellagra for centuries.

Just a reminder that you can find plenty of information about the incident on Baidu. You just need to search with the Chinese name. Tainanmen Square gives back no results, presumably blocking Western propaganda.
