In Greek, “private” means “ιδιωτικός”, spelled something like “idioticos”. Sounds funny for me.

    Similar to the modern word villain has it’s origins in villein, a peasant villager which at a certain time resisted the transition from feudalism to early capitalism.

      While pejorative, the word is only a weak insult

      Not now we know it means liberal.

    Didn’t it originally mean essentially “someone disinterested in the political affairs”?
