The desperation to have Stalin be remembered as more evil than Hitler is insane. “That guy who beat the Nazis? Nazi collaborator. Even did his own holocaust smug

Yesterday I watched a friend play Call of Duty: WWII, and it looked a hell of a lot like the Western Allies were using the ‘human wave’ tactic on Omaha Beach.

the opening of saving of private ryan is us army charging frontally machine gun bunker nests without cover or any kind of support.

my guess is that the message they try to convey is that brave soldiers valiantly marched to death to protect freedom or whatever. but end up contradicting themselves.

🤔 Does taking well manned static defenses require a large force in a maneuver that likely will result in high casualties?

No, must be the Asiatics with their lack of value for human life.

The battle was also nothing like how it was portrayed in the media.

I was anticipating that objection. My counterargument would be that the designers likely tried to make it historically accurate (you know how much gamers clamour for ‘realism’), but I have no proof.

The vast majority of FPS’s aren’t historically accurate because it would make the game incredibly boring. So it’s more artistic liberty if anything.

True, but ARMA isn’t really a traditional FPS, as its a MilSim of a fictional conflict. That’s a bit easier to make work if you want to show the horrors of war.
