It’s tragically funny how the Nazis intended to use this to poison East Ukraine because they weren’t properly “Ukrainian” and needed to be “cursed” before being liberated by Russia, only for all the stuff to explode in their own political heartland. The world has never been closer to nuclear confrontation, because in a way it has already happened.

It’s not that Russia was waiting, it’s just that it makes sense to destroy the enemy’s weapons and ammo before they reach the front lines. The systematic destruction of AD systems serves to keep the skies clear for further Russian missile and drone strikes on accumulations of equipment and manpower.
Russia has been telling the West all along not to send stuff to Ukraine because whatever they send would become targets and only end up causing more destruction in Ukraine and further prolong the conflict. They can’t say they weren’t warned. It just shows how much they don’t care about Ukraine’s wellbeing.

Since May 6 Russia has continued intense airstrikes. I think they actually were waiting because they were anticipating a symbolic Nazi offensive on May 9 to “ruin the celebration” and waited till right before the offensive to suddenly cause the most chaos.
