Yes. It was a whole thing. Peresild was sent to ISS (with big pomp, and some scandals about her taking the place of an actual trained cosmonaut), and they filmed it there. As far as PR stunts go, this one’s alright (if expensive for the taxpayer)
Reminds me of a conversation I had with a basically apolitical friend some years ago:
Friend: “Man, going to the moon was such an awesome American moment. I wish we could do that again.”
Me: “Yeah, though there are about two million other things we could be spending that money on…”
Friend: “I get you, but our government’s going to waste the money anyway, and I’d rather they’d pour it into a hole on the moon than use it to kill people in Iraq.”
