Hot controversial take: engineers have the most important role in society because they are in charge of developing the productive forces. Problem is that the current education program makes them donkeys with no ideology, or status quo bootlickers.
I would say worse than no ideology, they are given a reactionary ideology if possible. That being said I would say a very important but I would not say “the most”.
