It abolutely is, Russia is the hinge in the emerging multipolar world because of BRICKS, because supplying resources and weapons outside of US control to much of antiimperialist block and because being somewhat a middleman between China and a some other countries, mostly India.

Flipping Russia to the west side would allow USA to create a situation where China is suddenly against most of the world.
