DD-MM-Year is the best written format for dating by far, but MM-DD-Year is significantly better for speaking, it rolls off the tongue much better then DD-MM.
I believe the arguments for months first was from a farming practicality standpoint as well. The month is the most important detail to farmers schedules and thus listed first in the application. Then the day of the month next as that’s next most important. At least last time I read up on this that’s the explanation I got.
Not entirely, for example the same principle applies in Russian. Of course not every language will be universal, but I feel like a decent chunk of them can fit this mold.
My mistake, all my ancestors are very disappointed in me now, I don’t know why I completely blanked and flipped the DD-MM for Russian, but you are right about that.

In Dutch it makes more sense to say DD MM but luckily we can’t all speak Dutch.

My russian is pretty weak but iirc date is said dd-mm-yyyy, same as polish and in russian numerals are actually easier to pronounce than polish ones.

absolutely true for chinese - usually for example 12月13日 for 12/13.
