And this is precisely why pushing Russia into an active conflict was such a monumental mistake. Prior to the war nobody seriously questioned the assumption that the west had both military and economic superiority over Russia. Testing this assumption carried the risk that it would be proven false as turned out to be the case.

Now everybody around the world can plainly see that the emperor has no clothes. Russia showed that it is able to stand up to the west, and this opens a host of opportunities for countries that were previously subjugated by the west. We’re seeing more and more countries aligning behind BRICS and openly defying the west now.

This will be studied by historians as the pivotal miscalculation that led to the downfall of the western hegemony over the world.
