    This is honestly a big problem with the current Russian government. For all Putin’s reputation (in the west) as the very hardest of hardliners, he mostly insists that a minimum of respect be paid Russia’s territorial integrity, and that Russia’s economic interests not be too overtly sabotaged. When his red lines are crossed, he responds. But those red lines are relatively few, and allow a lot more shenanigans from the West than they really should.

    Hopefully now that the Donbass is part of Russia, Putin and the Russian government will feel much more driven to defend them.

      Yes, its just as you say. The fact that this has been allowed to happen for 8+ years now with little to no progress from Russia was a huge mistake I feel. Ukraine and Nato have waged their terrorism and had several years to entrench, causing more headaches down the line.
