I also can’t wrap my head around the fact that each Family Guy episode costs MILLIONS of dollars to animate, one of the most expensive animated shows, yet Family Guy is so poorly animated. Fucking how?
Capitalist inefficiency and unnecessary spending, I’d guess. I’ve heard from at least one animator that they often hire many people to do pointless work, or work that can be more effectively done by a smaller group

Unfortunately not the specific interview. The guests were the animators behind a much smaller show called “Smiling Friends”, so I don’t know how well it applies to something like Family Guy
I mean, Family Guy probably has a blank check from the network, so one can only assume it’s even worse.
I assume that’s largely why it’s so expensive – they spend money on things they don’t need because they don’t have to justify it
