As long as men earn more on average especially when the gender wage gap exists men will have more power than women. Even things like the streets being unsafe for women which inhibits their movement contribute to this. Three are a multitude of other factors too. Poorer households in India are generally very patriarchal despite men and women both working and still not making enough for a respsctable living.
