I spose the Ulster scots did help colonize Ireland ( and the americas ), but that was a few hundred years ago, and I’m sure plenty of Scottish leftists aren’t going to be patriotic about that.
Yea I see it more as a small shitty reason to kick a pro-Russian narrative off bc I was frequently commenting about the current conflict a lot. Also the little customized Flair that I used under my name in that sub was 🇷🇺💤🇷🇺💤🇷🇺 So it was obv that I wasn’t just a “no war on Nazis” type like SLS wants. It was just my defense of Celts( more for their Revolutionary roots as people who helped poor Irish immigrants and stood in opposition to the crown) that set them off to say that it was some sorta infighting or hatred of English, but the mod note said I was “least stupid Anglo” like how did y’all interpret Anglo from Ireland??? Like, they quite literally are not Anglos.
Not disagreeing with your stance (I love Z-posting), but you need to be more subtle when conversing against the mainstream narrative to more liberal leftists, I changed my Polish friend’s opinion on the legitimacy of Donbass’ rightful sovereignty but only by mentioning Bandera, Wołyń massacre denial, Zelensky being a puppet, election meddling, Pandora papers explaining why alot of Ukrainians work for pennies etc.
I absolutely couldn’t agree with you more. I definitely think that subtly goes a long way. The only reason I did it was bc I don’t like Reddit anymore and most subs have gotten worse. I probably check Lemmy everyday and Reddit once or twice a week but once I get kicked off of a few more I’ll be content with letting that toxicity go
