Michigan’s juvenile justice system is archaic. Counties act with little oversight, and the state keeps such poor data it doesn’t know how many juveniles it has in custody or what happens to them once…
I used to have a good article that tried to identify some trends in how post-columbine massacre, when they started letting police into schools, its resulted in massive increases of student arrests, with no decrease in the trend of school shootings.

What’s so terrible too, that the article points out, is that they don’t keep good statistics on how many kids cops arrest out of schools… in some states its worse than others, like in florida there was that case of a teacher calling the cops to arrest an 11 year old for refusing to stand for the pledge of allegiance.

Of course the soon-to-be vice president of the US bragged about locking up mothers for truancy, michigan seems to be taking it from the other angle and locking up the kids instead.
I recall that there were cops in Columbine High before the shooting started
I think what was meant was that cops in schools became more commonplace post the shooting.
