I’m guessing you can’t vote on mastodon if you don’t have an account, so you can vote here too.

We need to figure out:

  • what they’re going to look like
  • who to sell with (redbubble, spreadshirt, maybe even aliexpress, etc)
  • pricing, though it will probably be affordable. We plan to give them out to our editors on request, so you buying a sticker will fund them to our editors. Really by buying stickers from us you help support the website.

but they could be shipped out to you by the end of the week…

or the next, it’s a bit hopeful lol

Depends on the price and price of the shipment. Like for instance you say 5usd which is not a lot, but maybe it is another 5 for the delivery since it is a small item, plus some other shit like taxes on the dollar and imports it is like 12 13? I live with 20usd a week, so you know, it is a tough choice. I am sure I could do it one time but it hurts honestly, maybe not everyone is on the same situation but you know, my particular case.

spreadshirt prices items based on your region and then decides what to give the seller themselves, it’s all automated. So I can’t really give you an answer but you can look at stickers on their website to get an idea on the average price.

Problem with that method is it’s unreliable. We don’t know how much we’d make on each sale (even if they’re just to support the website and spread some goodies I don’t want to make just 1 dollar on a 20 dollar sale).

Another way would be aliexpress sellers but we’d have to set up some sort of dropshipping platform to automate as much of it as possible, plus we’d be handling customer data. And as far as stickers go on ali, they sell them by the hundred, which I doubt most people would need – 10-20 is more realistic if we can find that somewhere.

Is the reason for it to spread the word about prole wiki, or to get funding?

If the former, I’ve seen right wing white rose do some interesting stuff with thermal label printers.

The organisers distribute packs of designs for the printers, and the people will print it away for relatively cheap, distribute and stick it in public spaces.

This person used in on notebooks, but they also have pictures of that in the streets.

So… We could work on design for those, instead of figuring out logistics for actual stickers, which feels less efficient.

I was struck with a stupid sticker on random park and went down the rabbit hole to check what the fuck.

Not sure if they are liberal, I think they also don’t know. I’m sure there’s contradicting stickers, there, but I didn’t go that deep.

    GIMME GIMME GIMME

I need them by the hundreds! I need to signal to comrades that they are not alone and to liberals that we exist.

I need to make Polish communists more comfortable in this shithole we share, I want them to discover more people and I want them to organize.

Edit: I would also like lemmygrad stickers with lemmygrad.ml written on them, I’ve seen you having them somewhere but forgot where you’ve found them. :3

I think I might buy some stickers with communist design to put them around the city to fuck with local libs. One needs some amusement in life, right?

The problem we run into is that stickers on say spreadshirt are like 2$ for one. At least it’s a premium water-resistance vinyl sticker, but not the kind of thing you would buy 15 of to stick around town, maybe just one for your laptop.

We can get cheapo stickers on aliexpress though, like 3 bucks for 100, and I was thinking we could dropship those for like 6$ (all proceeds go to prolewiki to fund our hosting and other projects, it’s not like anyone makes money off this), but that would also require us handling customer data and sending the information over to the ali seller.

I was thinking of making pins too, actually one of our comrades has a pins machine and made a prolewiki one, it looks amazing.

We obviously don’t have the capabilities (either in knowledge, resources, or simply even time) to make these things ourselves, but it’s proving more difficult than I thought it would be to find a third-party seller lol.

Edit: I mean we could also buy a reserve from aliexpress, like 1000 at once, and then ship them in simple envelopes, but someone still has to make the envelope, keep track of stock, post the envelope, etc. + shipping costs will be higher than going through a reseller.

I’d be really interested but the thought of paying for it in dollar is a big deterrent. I’d print one myself locally for much cheaper than stores like redbubble allow, but then that defeats the point of the fundraising. On the other hand I’m not sure how much use it’d be to go for undervalued currency websites if the cost of maintaining the website and supporting the editors is in USD. Capitalism ruins everything, but I need to express my individuality!

They usually allow you to pay in many different currencies, though they might not always have every currency in the world.

In that case, I’m definitely getting one. I think the current logo is already fantastic for a sticker, but if having it also serve as advertising is also important, it could have the url under it like the lemmygrad one.

I was thinking possibly two stickers, one with the URL and one without, so you could have one to advertise and a “nicer” one (I haven’t mocked up the url sticker yet, so I don’t know how it would turn out) to stick on your laptop or other nice things.

Interested. I send postcards to friends across the world and it is quite inexpensive as there are historical provisions for postcards. It’s roughly less than USD 2.

Is there any way to have like, a sticker on a blank postcard? The economies of scale would work well I think if enough stickers and postcards were sold.

    Here’s some back-of-the-napkin math:

    Reusable Stickers

    USD 0.46/unit × 500 stickers ≈ USD 228.85

    Postcards

    USD 0.12/unit × 500 postcards ≈ USD 57.99

    USPS Postage

    USD 1.50/unit × 500 stickered postcards = USD 750

    Final Cost

    USD 228.85 + 57.99 + 750 USD 1036.84

    Customer Cost

    USD 1036.84 / 500 customers USD 2.07

There would also be labour cost in adding the stickers to the postcards and either printing the addresses or writing them out. Not sure if it’s feasible now that I’ve written it all out but it’s an option. Seems like postage might be lowered if there’s some way to get bulk stamps or if another country has lower rates. I didn’t include taxes or shipping for the postcards or stickers which is why I used an approximately equals sign. Hope this helps!!

EDIT: could find cheaper stickers or postcards ofc, I used a popular US based company for convenience in calculations. If there’s interest I can approximate labour cost for the comrades who would do the work. It shouldn’t meaningfully increase the cost even with a living wage.

Thanks for the 60 USD donation Vera! (no idea if you read Lemmygrad so we’re posting everywhere)
