I can’t fathom that we allow this shit to exist

Isn’t radio airplay essentially determined by production companies paying radio stations to play their shit? They are just going to astroturf this shit into the mainstream
Yes. In a way this is actually a good way to get the word out about how charts are not actually popularity, but marketing.
Same shit that goes on with Hollywood. IIRC it’s actually not that hard to get the skills to be a good actor, or screenwriter or whatever. Hollywood is a pure battle of who’s the bigger nepo baby. Who rubbed enough elbows with who.
This sucks. It’s amazing how much the right hates and devalues artists.
obviously for many reasons that have been brought up but at least among their “influencers” seems to be purely spite and jealously of being failed artists
makes me wonder how much of this would just evaporate if people could just do art and build their own followings with no need to monetize because socialism
The creator of this is a 31 year old “Poet” and “Design studio owner” named Telisha Jones (The design studio is called “Nikkisdesignsnprints, llc” according to her entirely public facebook profile). This doesn’t appear to be a production company just pumping money into it, it appears to just be ridiculous.
Edit: And she can’t have made that much money on it, since she’s grifting with “Ai courses” https://www.skool.com/digital-bossesfaceless-paid-4096/about?ref=716c66109ec343e2acb23b56d8b73dcf
Edit 2: Also the “Design studio” is literally just a print shop. https://nikkidesignsllc.com/
LMAO, that’s some amazing design work on those prints. “Put the Guns Down” is great
(fake ‘artist’ you have never heard of) is on the billboard charts
because billboard was paid to put it on there. it means nothing and its just a way for corporations to normalize the idea that these “artists” are legitimate and that anyone is actually listening to them (they’re not)
yeah the lesson here isn’t that AI is good at pop music it’s that radio pop music has been unensouled for like at least 3 decades by now. Doesn’t really matter if they use AI, that’s genuinely just speeding up the process
or most music is formulaic and we’ve reached a point where anything new will sound like something that already exists. I dont believe that “real” pop music only existed 30+ years ago.
The cutoff here is admittedly entirely personal preference
They won’t even give us real Slop anymore…all we get is homogenized slop-product

Cultural hotdog
Brilliantly succinct
There are currently thousands upon thousands of aspiring artists around the world begging and praying for just a little bit of radio airtime, or a gig, or for just a really good week of streams on spotify to get their names out there and then this happens
wow you hate the free market? tsk tsk
Real world people had their lives made measurably worse to allow this to happen.
The machine priests will be castigated.
