  • Seems mostly great, but I’ve heard a lot of negative things about /e/OS. It’s probably better than Google-ized Android, but GrapheneOS had a lot of complaints about its security, and most importantly it has proprietary systems and applications included. Proprietary applications by default (some that they’ve written?) is weird and worrying for a privacy focused OS.

GrapheneOS is the goat, imo. Hopefully we’ll get more devices supported soon.

  • you don’t pay up front at the ER, and there’s nothing stopping you from just not paying. Hospitals will want the money, though, and they’ll harass you to get it.

In those extreme circumstances you might get NGO or GoFundMe money to pay for your medical care, or if the National Guard gets deployed for a natural disaster they might be able to treat really minor wounds for free. Some Hospitals have financial aid, but that’s usually by poorness, not emergency. Some hospitals will give free care if they’re connected to a University, or you’re getting experimental treatment and/or are a part of a research group, but that’s only some of their patients, generally just for chronic diseases, and doesn’t necessarily pay for everything. Some certain hospitals will have specific things for some people that are free, I remember a certain hospital treating gunshot wounds for free or something like that, thanks in part to a deal with the state.

  • On one hand way too few leftists mask, on the other hand the only people I know still masking are leftists. The only orgs, meetings, and groups that require masks in my area are leftist. I’m sure some individual liberals mask, but not many, and important liberal groups seem to not mask at all. The IWW convention mandatory masks, IWW branches mostly mandate masks, the SWP mandates masks, local PSL mandates masks (idk about nationally), local picket group mandates mask, local DSA masks, etc.

It’s just kinda hard for me to appreciate this punching left when every criticism is 1000 times worse among every other political position. Biden literally ended masking mandates nationally, and long ago stopped wearing masks.

Leftists aren’t doing enough, but nobody else is doing anything, at all. Influential liberals have stopped masking years ago, influential right-wingers never masked, influential “non-political” or “centrist” people might as well be those right-wingers with how little they mask.

  • I’ve posted stuff in the Discussion thread, and I’ve talked about it in the Mod Chat.

I think if you keep all or most of the megas pinned because visibility, the people that made the complaints the admins are trying to address won’t be satisfied at all. That list is a lot of posts, and pinned posts would still take up most to all of the screen on load. I feel like visibility is just contradictory with the goals of this experiment. Keeping all the megas and portalling the events is a decent idea, one that I think most people will agree with, just not the people that want 1-3 pinned posts total and complain about pinned post bloat (even though you can make them disappear, and the take no time at all to scroll by). They’re a small group that wants to minorly inconvenience everyone, rather than have to deal with an even more moderate and minor inconvenience, so I think we really should just ignore them. It’s such a selfish, uncommon, and unpleasant that most people just want it back to normal, and the few people that are trying to find a compromise don’t actually themselves believe it’s a big deal.

But the mods and admins seem to really care about that minority opinion a lot, they talk about the opinions of people that don’t even seem to exist in the thread. If they can’t get something with very few pinned posts, I think they’ll just return to normal, then try a very similar experiment. I honestly think it’s likely they’ll keep doing it, over a long timespan, until people finally agree to have basically no pinned posts.

Thanks, I like it too. Maybe they could have it as a pinned comment so it’s more visible than the post body?

  • if you had “tankies” with wealth and power, he’d have been targeting them

The PSL, along with a number of other Marxist-Leninist and progressive groups, is backed by an American multi-hundred-millionaire left-winger, Neville Singham. I haven’t found him in any of the Epstein files at all, and he’s a quite wealthy and powerful guy, along with being a literal tankie.

the kind of wealthy socialite Epstein was doing, you would have to abandon your communist principles entirely

This might be true though, but I think the emphasis might be more on “the kind” and “socialite” than wealthy. Doing stuff with Epstein kinda requires abandoning your principles it seems, if you had any, even if those principles weren’t at all communist. Pedophilia being bad is a nominally common principle.

  • guncadindex

Exactly! I would have recommended r/fosscad, if it hadn’t been banned. There’s a Rocket Chat where there’s a bunch of beta models that I’m in too.

3d printed guns, at least partially, are just so easy and convenient. It’s also super easy to CNC a lot of 3d printed gun stuff, which is awesome. After all, most modern firearms are mostly polymer, and PLA+ is the common mans polymer.

The older make it in the metal shop is still possible, you can find a bunch of designs, books, and manuals on Odysee. There’s even a number of modern newly designed metal shop guns. There’s some hardware store guns that are new, and meant to be a little safer than the old models.
