    Well, brightside is it saves you a few thousand dollars on renouncing your citizenship. It isn’t a cheap or easy process normally.

      I wouldn’t put it past the US to charge the victims of this the renunciation fee anyway, and keep them on the IRS list as tax persons.

      I am genuinely hoping they start doing this and there’s an easy enough way for me to make myself a target. I have U.S. citizenship and I do not want it, but I don’t have the money to jump through all their hoops to renounce it.

        Just be sure that you know what countries are willing to give you citzenship if you are stateless if the US is your only citizenship… coincidentaly I belive Cuba will give stateless people citizenship

          Would be the greatest, sweetest irony that a brain drain here could turn Cuba into the greatest socialist country in the world, a Mecca for folks tired of the capitalist soul-suck.

          Cuba has honestly been near the top of my list for countries I might move to for a while now.
