I woke up to a message saying that the instance was reposessed, some hours of progress were lost.

I won’t be able to put the server back up until I get access to a PC (rn I’m on a phone on my way to work, I’ll try to put up the server via my work computer).

Also, I think I figured out a way to never lose data like this again.

When the server is up I will make a post with the new IP and stuff, though I don’t know if I’ll be able via the work computer.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Tencent Cloud deactivated it, they can do it because of the type of instance the server is.

According to my calculations around 8 dollars a month or something, that is for a 2 core 4 gb ram server. Though I just discovered the AMD version of the server is cheaper for pretty much the same specs so I might be off.

In case you are interested, Tencent Cloud also offers servers in Hong Kong, although the latency from Europe is very noticeable, especially while in ssh to the server (keystrokes have noticeable delay and stuff).

There are also options in mainland China, but those are more complicated to get.

This is unrelated mostly but is it just me or have hosting prices for minecraft servers (idk enough about other prices) gone up a lot recently ? I used to host a server on nfoservers for like $6 USD per month that was fine for 10 players for years, now similar specs are 2-3x the cost at least it seems.

Wasn’t a minecraft hoster, but I did used to run a dedi off nfo for other games and it never ran me more than like 5 bucks/month for a 24-man server. Disappointing to hear costs have skyrocketed like that.
