All I know is that Castro later apologized to the LGBT community. Took him a long, long time to come around and understand that LGBT people aren’t bourgeoisie (HOW IS A PERSON’S GENDER/SEXUAL IDENTITY LINKED TO THEM BEING A REVOLUTIONARY/BOUGIE ANYWAY?!), but yeah.

Castro changed his mind very quickly. He subscribed to the idea that homosexuality was lgbt decadence, but he made friends with several gay men and then went undercover as a gay man to a “gay work camp”. He was supposed to stay 2 weeks, but he cut his stay short at 3 days, and a week later all of the camps were closed for horrific conditions and treatment of the “inmates”.

He then made homosexuality a protected class in Cuba among the like as sex, race, nationality, etc. he would also publicly state several times that gays are proletarian.

The Mao quote can not even be attributed to him, and very little is known about the early PRC’s attitude towards the LGBT. All claims and quotes made “for Mao” were made by a single American reporter whose source was basically “I made it the fuck up”.

I tried to find a source for that Allende ‘quote’ and I found nothing of relevance on Google Books. Then I did a general search (through Sagasu) and it’s very telling how almost every single result there is a Reddit thread.

Speaking of which, here are some responses to the image.

They really thought Zedong was Mao’s last name, shows how ignorant and uninformed the creator is. How can anyone take this seriously that has more than 2 brain cells
