-moe, modern isekai and slice of life are byproducts of alienation caused by capitalist industry and bourgueois relations in society who helps to make escapism because “there’s no other choice” if you fail in capitalism

-modern hentai are born from sexual frustration, lack of healthy relationships between genders and a distorted view of western sex morality, that’s why it has so much raep and weird fetishes because of the censorship of genitals

-the former things make it a good place to develop reactionary ideas based in try to defend the illusions emitted by this “people’s opium”

or i’m being exaggerated?

“KeeP YER fiLtHy POlItiCs oUTta My ANiMus!”

all jokes asides, i’m a bit confused on what you meant by “moe and slice of life being byproducts of alienation caused by the capitalist industry and bougie relations”. as for escapism, well, isn’t that what entertainment in general usually is?

and when you say “the former things make it a good place to develop reactionary ideas”, are you blaming moe/slice of life animes for cultivating reactionary thoughts into people? again, some more elaboration would be nice.

“moe and slice of life being byproducts of alienation caused by the capitalist industry and bougie relations”

I guess it’s about loneliness and general commodification of human relations going in the capitalist model of family and broader society. I once saw few episodes, forgot the title, about a fox goddess living with stereotypical japanese office wage slave and holy shit it was the most depressing thing i ever seen in the anime.

Oh man, you reminded me of one of Yugopnik’s video about it. This one too.

I once saw few episodes, forgot the title, about a fox goddess living with stereotypical japanese office wage slave

It’s Senko-san, I haven’t watched it (and probably won’t either, due to the unnecessary forced sexualization + the male character’s just an uninteresting office worker, so it just comes across as wish fulfilment + escapism rather than trying to tell an actual story).

(But then again I guess that’s all what Japanese people can do when they limited themselves to doing bugger all to change the system due to their own traditions tying them down. “The nail that sticks higher will be hammered down”. Like, ew. Gross.

And this is not even going to the fact that Sakamoto Ryoma was a nail that stuck higher granted he got hammered down by his assassins in the end but is still very much loved by Japanese people for modernizing Japan.

Granted, Usonia’s also likely putting them on a tight leash…)

EDIT: Also, if you thought that’s depressing, wait until you hear about the hostess/cabaret club business that’s booming in Japan. You can literally hire a person to accompany you or chat with you (cabaret clubs) and simulate a relationship for hours on end.

oh, senko…the idea sounded fascinating: a new version of aa megamisama, but with a kemonomimi…but the implementation was boring
