I guess the strategy will something be like “AFD is bad” and “People voting for AFD are garbage”. Die Linke is a kind of joke, I don’t even want to thing about their youth organisation.

I get the impression that German libs are even more delusional than the ones in US. Their meltdown is going to be incredible to watch.

Oh yeah, people here are living in a serious bubble and they are in for a big shock. They are still in denial about the deindustrialization.

What i’ve been hearing most from people around me is a belief that Germany is too big to fail. It’s just too rich, too big of an economy, “we’ll be fine” they say, they’ve had it so good for so long they simply can’t imagine anything else.

I notice this to be a general trend in the west. People who’ve never lived through a collapse have a hard time understanding how fragile their systems are in practice.

Given how new the party is, that’s really impressive, they might even climb to 15% or so by March. Would be great if they displaced CDU.

eh… sometimes new parties get a huge election boost, because people are just saturated with mainstream parties. But it tends to be short lived. They may disappear as quickly as they came to be. If they get a good result, they will need to work a lot to consolidate the party and its electorate.

Wagenknecht is a pretty seasoned politician, so I don’t expect this will be a fad. It’s also a unique moment in history. German centre is collapsing, people are mad because the standard of living is unravelling, and it’s becoming clear that the US is not an ally. All these factors combined are creating a huge opportunity for the socialist left.
