    eh… sometimes new parties get a huge election boost, because people are just saturated with mainstream parties. But it tends to be short lived. They may disappear as quickly as they came to be. If they get a good result, they will need to work a lot to consolidate the party and its electorate.

      Wagenknecht is a pretty seasoned politician, so I don’t expect this will be a fad. It’s also a unique moment in history. German centre is collapsing, people are mad because the standard of living is unravelling, and it’s becoming clear that the US is not an ally. All these factors combined are creating a huge opportunity for the socialist left.
