I’ve fallen asleep watching Lefty videos and woken up to YouTube playing multi-hour Right-wing podcasts. I’d say it doesn’t give a shit so long as it’s politics, but it always strays rightward the longer you let it go.
There’s no recovering your old suggestions after such a mistake. Burn the account to the ground.
I kind of just assume you have to obfuscate and/or scrub your digital “trail” as best you can to avoid that kind of stuff everywhere now. Not too hard on the computer or maybe a phone, but most every other device is screwed. I managed to side-load a YT frontend app on an android TV and that seems to help separate things between the YT apps on the device itself.
I had similar thing few years ago where i watched dunks on Fallout 76 without realizing who i watched (i’m not into the youtuber lore) and ended up with hours of Quarteredbrain and such. And my account did recovered later, though it took A LOT of cat videos.

I’ve read that youtube’s cookies/suggestions can follow you even if you delete or change accounts.
This is literally some “Orwellian” shit.
Yeah, good point.
