Yiddish is language of the Ashkenazi, and Israel is very frequently being accused of being Ashkenazi dominated, so this actually went against their majority. The reason was of course zionism, for many idological reasons and one practical, that they did not had common language with other Jews beside the one used in religion, so they took that one and revived it.

Just like how Nazism wasn’t “white supremacy” but even more specific than that, Israel is the same.

Nazism goes like Non “Aryan” where inferiors and it was good to castrate the rest of whites, specifically the Mediterranean and the Slavs.
There’s a lot of Judaist sects, and like the Christian ones, “only my X version of Y religion is the correct one”. Apply it also to the ethnicity, culture, and whatnot, and voilà, Theocracism.
