When you hear the message that Democrats like to give to the Far Left that left the party, you hear rhetoric reminiscent of of Abusers in relationships. The classic Democrat strategy to make us vote is Toxic af, basically they don’t push through any progressive legislation, then when we say “I don’t really like this party you NEVER represent me” they say “Good luck finding a successful party that won’t just chew you up and spit you out like the Republicans.” And then they move closer and closer to the Republicans, but the whole time they act like you have no other choice but to go back to them. They threaten you saying “if you don’t vote for us, you’ll get abortion banned and trans people are gonna be arrested and it’s YOUR fault if that happens because you didn’t Vote for ME!” It doesn’t matter if you vote for another candidate who will defend abortion and believes in voting rights for more people, if you didn’t Check the Blue name, then YOU got rid of abortion, not the Republicans, not the Dems who sat by and let the Roe V Wade Leak sit there for a month or 2(knowing damn well that they could’ve done something to protect Roe V Wade) it’s not fair and they will always blame you but ask for you to come back to vote for them.

Friendly reminder that the democrats could’ve stuffed the Supreme Court because there is no limits on how many seats the Supreme Court can be.

Some lawyer came into my AP class to talk to us about a film we watched about some naive kids who sued the gov’t about climate change, and I told him there was a precedent for presidents changing the number of Supreme Court justices and he acted like he hadn’t heard of it, before he claimed that since it hadn’t been done in decades that means there wasn’t a precedent. (My problem with the movie was that the kids bringing the lawsuit seemed to think that the judicial branch was an objective organ of the state even though they were willing to admit that the executive and legislative have been corrupt and lying and contributing to climate change. I even started ranting about the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie and the teacher had to shut me up because the class didn’t know what I was talking about)

imo i feel like this abusive nature is exactly why voting blue does nothing. It’s not that there aren’t minuscule differences between the democrats and republicans, just that voting for either continues the cycle of abuse/capitalist oppression while both parties inevitably move closer to fascism.

in particular, remember that every fascist country had not-explicitly-fascist enablers. the republicans being the outright fascists does not change the fact that the democratic party and its veiled fascism would absolutely ultimately do nothing about it

What makes it hard in my view is being expected to vote(sign on) for this shit when the choice is naked fascism abroad or immediate local fascism at home. The democrats fundrd nazis.

So the vote shamers. They need to tell me how Im supposed to look myself in the mirror with this fact.

To say NOTHING of the fact that even NOW; GOP fascistic shit is just GOING TO HAPPEN. They have the SCOTUS. It’s over. No amount of keeping dems in seats is going to change that. So we can either hope the GOP are isolationists and stops funding nazis abroad or delay the inevitable while nazi democrats troll the world into nuclear armaggedon.

      There is no lesser evil.

There really isn’t a lesser evil, I completely agree. Hell, the only ones saying to stop funding Ukraine with a blank check are Republicans and a few Dems. And those Republicans who want a limited amount of money for Ukraine support horrifying policies here and they still have a lot of anti-China sentiment. There aren’t really any Pro-china people in congress at all and both parties support Pelosi’s trip to Taiwan

Most republicans that claim they want to stop funding Ukrainian Nazis do either because “trump would’ve schooled the ruskies better than Biden,” or “Russia’s fine because they are white and hate gay people, and trump tried to simp for putin, let’s shift to hating China with the force dems hate Russia plus how they already hate China”

Yea! An amazing amount of Republicans literally just support Russia because they perceive them to be more Homophobic and Transphobic(therefore more “TraDiTioNal and MaSCuLiNe”) than the Western-ruled Ukraine. And even then that ignores the Nazi problem in Ukraine. Then there are some of the old, old PaleoCons that basically say “why are we wasting all our money on war in other countries? There are so many different kinds of people that I hate here that I want oppressed first!” So there are no real good takes from anyone in congress. Even socdems who want peace primarily (Democracy Now! Crowd cares more about Peace at the end of the day than drawing this out for the sake of Ukraine)aren’t represented in congress. Their darling Bernie supports funding Ukraine. I think maybe Ro Khanna or someone like that is pushing for Peace talks but it’s mired in Pro-Ukrainian propaganda.

I like the image that shows Republicans actively moving everything to the right while Democrats stop any movement to the left. While Trump was in office, more people were upset about concentration camps. Now that Biden is, though, they couldn’t give a fuck. Obama drained the anti war movement of all its momentum in a similar way.

The Democrats aren’t less fascistic. They’re just more polite about it, and so many people can’t see that because they can only imagine fascists as being monsters, not some guy that likes ice cream.

Yeah I hate election season and the reminders to vote. It is always a thin veil that hides partisanship. Like why can’t I just not vote? My vote won’t do anything but attach my name to an opportunist or warmonger.
