I think because no Westerner realises the country has a population of 25 million people, similar to Australia. They think it’s some sort of small Western town with one bandit ruling it, as opposed to an actual function country with multiple levels of government.
Kim has to be one of the most competent leaders if he can manage to solo rule a country of this size without it collapsing within a few weeks.
It really is impressive how much they’ve managed to do despite the disgusting sanctions (especially after the Amerikans destroyed so much of the infrastructure during their invasion)
