    I was more thinking cancer as a metaphor for the rich. Cancer cells were once regular cells, but stopped performing their normal functions and started hoarding nutrients. They even signal the body to build infrastructure (blood vessels, capillaries) around them. Until the cancer cells deprive enough nutrients from everywhere else and the body dies (cancer included) due to normal cells no longer having the resources to carry out their functions.
