The Dutch elections are today. I was outside handing out Flyers to people on their way to vote. The Flyers broke down the different stances of the parties on Palestine, in the hopes people would vote for those that are pro-palestine. Is this reconcilable with the anti-electoralist stance I take as a Marxist?
Well you at least informed people about which party are the least damaging to Palestine.
I voted in the Dutch elections today as well. I chose BIJ1 and their stance on Palestine and colonialism is one of my biggest reasons to vote for them.
When we say that we don’t believe electoral politics are going to save us, we don’t mean that we should not ever participate in them. After all, a moderate socdem government is obviously going to do less harm than a far right one. What we do mean, is that we should not solely focus on electoral politics to change the world. Organize in a marxist party, influence those around you and at your work place, read theory and get into the streets. Only then real change can happen. But in the meantime, using your ability to vote or to influence votes isn’t a bad thing to do.
