Yeah it’s fairly obscure model, because it was retired much faster than Concorde since such plane is useless in socialism because they are no rich people to pander to like this. It was mostly used as really fast cargo transport plane, but again it’s something just regular transport plane were good for with much less resources used.
Western media also don’t like to mention it since it’s like casual soviet achievment done “in the meantime” vs the incredibly lauded and advertised Concorde. Not to mention Concorde itself faded into obscurity now so there is even less opportunities to mention its soviet counterpart.
Well it’s labeled with CCCP 77061 so maybe that helps? I’m not great when it comes to model anythings, “a car is a car and a plane is a plane” type thought process I have.
I can’t make out the model of plane hanging. I wanted to say a Concord at first glance, but now I’m confused.
That’s Tu-144, world’s first supersonic cruise plane, had its first flight before famous Concorde.
Ah! That makes sense! I was racking my brain for a similar plane, but the best I could come up with was maybe an early prototype of the TU-22.
