R/GenZedong, a self-described “Deng-ist” community with over 57,000 members, was quarantined for containing “a high volume of information not supported by credible sources,” the company wrote. (Quarantined communities are stripped of all of their subscribers, generate no revenue, and don’t show up on general Reddit feeds.) R/GenZedong has long been a haven for those who are skeptical of Uighur oppression in China. This week, a post on the subreddit r/AgainstHateSubreddits alleged that r/GenZedong subscribers were now spreading misinformation about the war in Ukraine and downplaying the number of civilian deaths there.
It’s really cringe how people watch only one side’s reporting on the world, but they’re so confident that they’ve got all the facts, that they’ve not been told a single lie or embellishment by their media, they genuinely believe any questioning of the media’s reporting or narrative (and therefore their entire awareness of the world) is the same as announcing open hatred of Ukrainians or Uighurs.
I mean, I would have thought an unquestioning desire to believe and repeat anything negative about China or Russia they hear (evidence usually not included nor required) would at least count as prejudice, if not actual open statements of hatred.
What they had to say about us:

They won’t give you the publicity
