It’s interesting to see western Marxist Leninist always having rigid thinking process about the development of socialism for countries with different material conditions. I want to know why do some western Marxist Leninist and Maoists always have arbitrary definitions of what can be a socialist country or not be a socialist country. Why do China need to fulfil all these criterias to be socialists?

I reckon when you’ve only ever thought of socialism as a hypothetical and haven’t actually had to put in the work and have your ideals butt up against practical reality you’re going to end up more idealistic. And chauvinism is a pretty American thing already so that doesn’t help.

Wondering if the document from bannedthought he was talking about is the one published by CPI Maoist which claims that China is a social-imperialist country.
