I hereby designate illicit fentanyl and its core precursor chemicals as Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD).
Maybe fentanyl really is inflicting mass destruction on the US because it sure does seem like a lot of brains in the US are cooked.

I think it’s also meant to pressure China with the mention of precursor chemicals. If/when relations sour further, Trump can claim that China is tied to the proliferation of “WMD’s”.

Yes, it’s an opoid pain killer just like morphine. The White House brief says “illicit fentanyl,” as if that makes it any better.
So China/Russia/Venezuela can bomb american hospitals because they are being used to hide WMDs.
