      Yes CA gives significantly more money then it receives to the federal government. Further more the state produces the most amount of agriculture for the rest of the country.

      Of course California politicians are spineless neoliberal cowards who will fold to pressure without needing to, so none of that matters. This state is infuriating in both the common attitude and political reality.

      How is that relevant? It’s not like California can refuse to pay the federal government. The monopoly on violence is in Washington and that’s not changing any time soon. At best California’s economy will take a hit because of these cuts and so the amount of taxes they collect which they can send to the federal government will be lower as a consequence.

          Those are all very good points. Yes, there will be secondary effects from something like this. Doesn’t mean they won’t do it though. This administration is not the smartest.
