I will be honest I didn’t even think about pre to post revolutionary governments originally, I guess my original statement was in error
not necessarily in error, just a bit oversimplified; a revolution can be seen as dissolving a “nation” (depending on definition) and creating a new one, in which case treaties would logically have to be renegotiated since one of the parties no longer exists
