If you want to avoid it turning into italics, use \* to type an asterisk instead of just *. Reason for this happening is that Lemmy treats comments as Markdown rather than plain text, so the asterisk needs to be “escaped” with a backslash in order not to be turned considered the beginning/end of italics.

And yes, I completely agree. The way they treat women is both full of double standards and absolutely disgusting.
