“If it’s not viable, and they’re saying this simply to complain rather than to offer a serious alternative…Unless an option is practicable, it’s not worth bringing up.”

👏 💯 Pragmatism is the opposite of idealism. This does not mean we skimp on our principles, this would simply make us tools, liberals. However, being afraid to muddy our boots assures we will go nowhere.

“A meme within these idealistic left communities is that this war ought to simply be a war between the workers, and the capitalist ruling classes on both the Russian and Ukrainian sides. The problem is that’s not the war the conditions have presented us with.”

Precisely, this and the fact that in WW1, where these leftists often point to, that scenario was one of outright competition between bourgeois blocs one of whom was lead by the imperial power of the time in the form of the British Empire, to become the dominant and unopposed force. This conflict is between an already established unopposed force, and the world imperial power, against a pette bourgeois state aligned with a bloc of nations of mixed class rule all fighting for sovereignty. So not only are the conditions not there to turn this conflict into a class war as the Bolsheviks did in WW1, this conflict’s characteristics also differ greatly from that of WW1.

"The progression towards worldwide workers victory isn’t helped by declaring that both sides in the conflict are bad. Russia’s contradictions aren’t the primary issue. The primary contradiction is U.S. hegemony, which Washington seeks to defend by cultivating a new genocide threat within eastern Ukraine. Operation Z was the only practical way to get rid of this threat and speed up U.S. imperial decline, which brings global proletarian revolution closer. The job of us in the imperial center when it comes to this matter is to sabotage our government’s narrative management operation, which keeps the war machine running. As the anti-Russian psyops get discredited, the empire loses the control over mass consciousness necessary for continuing its war against Russia, and the anti-imperialist side is helped. Thereby, the workers movement gets advanced.

Multipolarity is not the end goal for communists, it’s only an indispensable step towards completing the transition to global socialism. To try to impede the narrative effort to bring multipolarity by pointing out Russia’s contradictions is the opposite of helpful. It’s what the ruling class wants those on the left to do, as it makes the left into something compatible with imperialism."

    👏 💯

“What I’ve also had to learn is that the contradictions of the USA’s internal anti-imperialist movement, like the contradictions of U.S. imperialism’s enemies, are a secondary issue. It would be foolish of me at this stage to put much focus on pointing out the things that are wrong with the individuals and organizations which challenge imperialism’s psyops.”

This comes in contradiction to the last few paragraphs, as some organizations who profess to aid the anti-imperialist struggle actually ensure no progress is made. What did WWP/ANSWER succeed in preventing within the context of the Iraq War? What is the class of the members of the CIA? As well with that organization’s purpose being to defend US imperial capital at all costs, why should we trust any members of it even a supposed janitor? Some organizations must be criticized, and must be kept at a distance. Opportunistic organizations designed to hijack and derail the proletarian class must be treated different than for example a pette bourgeois pro-Russia organization, as that sort of organization does not exist to undermine our progress, nor the progress of the anti-imperial movement as a whole.

"Building a multi-tendency anti-imperialist coalition is the only way to break the Democratic Party’s stifling influence over the antiwar movement. As long as the movement is dominated by organizations that tail the Democrats, and that therefore make sure to denounce Russia whenever they denounce NATO, the war machine won’t be disrupted. To become truly offensive towards the ruling class, we’ll need to build an antiwar movement that’s independent from the Democrats. And we can’t do this without forming bonds between the communist movement, and the other ideological elements that are anti-NATO. "

Within the context of the anti-imperial struggle I agree.

“I’m referring to the attacks on Rage Against the War Machine from the Trotskyist World Socialist Website, from Black Agenda Report, and from the ANSWER organizers who shared BAR’s content about RAWM.)”

Yes, well, ANSWER are the CIA, I’ve already said my piece on this issue, BAR I can’t speak on as I haven’t reviewed his content lately, and you’ve already pointed out the trots in the room, the snakes in the grass who pretend to be our friend then when we need them most they fall apart like a commodity made in America.

This Carlos Garrido, he sounds interesting. I will read this book.

I am interested in reading Garrido’s book too. I know the basic jist of it since the idea of the purity fetish of the western left was introduced in essays that i have read already. The book is probably just a longer form that expounds on that idea and adds more context.

I read that fleawar piece and I don’t buy it. If you have more serious info in lieu of proto-Maoist hit pieces I’d love to see evidence regarding ANSWER and PSL being “…the CIA” given that they actually practice demcent and the alternative we’re being given is literally working with bourgeois nationalist parties with direct ties to the goddamn state department.

No offense to you in particular intended, but this all reeks of wrecker bullshit to me. Behold, the vanguard: sex cults, proud pedos, patsocs, white nationalists and austerity-loving oligarchs. Empire doesn’t stand a chance. 🙄

I understand your skepticism, however that article simply points out facts which can be verified. That article is not simply a hit piece as you or I might take a lunch break to reason why the likelihood of these things are the case or not, they provide thorough sources for their claims as well at the bottom of the article. The organizers of ANSWER and PSL have connections to the state department as well, and as you have correctly stated, those with direct ties to the state department, or to the state in general might I add, should not be trusted.

As I’ve explained elsewhere and I will explain again here, the main difference between us working with a libertarian organization vs working with a faux leftist organization, is that the libertarian organization is not in existence to hijack and undermine our movement. This provides us with clear insulation when working with their base against the direction of their leadership which is entirely inept at coordinating an effective anti-war campaign.

I suggest we also work with the ANSWER/PSL base, however not to be lead by their leadership. As I’ve advocated for previously I still hold that only a truly Marxist and proletarian leadership of the anti-war movement will result in not only success in that front, but also significant numbers growth for our movement towards socialism.
