Seriously though, you made a good point about how taboo it is in Poland to discuss Polish collaboration with the Fascists. There is a similar (though by no means identical) prohibition on the subject here in the Anglosphere.

In my experience, finding literature and articles that discuss Polish collaboration with Fascism is quite difficult. Both Polish ultranationalists and generic antisocialists suppress and reject writings that expose this subject, though not necessarily for the same reasons.

In the case of Polish ultranationalists the reasons are obvious. In the case of other antisocialists, I suspect that the reason that they almost always shy away from the subject is that it complicates their already lazy attempts to equate communism with German Fascism. Knowing that a substantial and significant number of Poles willingly collaborated with the Fascists would open the door to all kinds of awkward questions, to say the least.

Naturally, the author of this paper indulged in a few of the classic oversimplifications of Soviet history (we all know which ones) while discussing this important subject, either in a conscious attempt to appease anticommunist censors or because the compulsion just came naturally to his hamsterlike brain, but either way it’s pretty clear that even these typical concessions did nothing to popularize his paper or the subject matter.

ETA: he also repeatedly tried to equate the Polish communists with the German Fascists, but my point still stands.

Our DeSantis-wannabe minister of education wants to defund a researcher and everyone who supported the researcher in an open letter, because said researcher dared talk about the Polish collaboration

Maybe we all drank the 90000 bottles of vodka and even the grad itself can’t remember what happened.
