But seriously, this is something which generally just shouldn’t be an industry. Think of it this way: it’s a job where you have to be in regular contact with bodily fluids, from multiple people, with minimal protection and in fact in the nude most of the time. If most employers – a hospital, say – required this of its employees, people would rightly be up in arms about it. But add sex, and somehow everybody’s concerns about hazardous working conditions just go away.
(This is not, by the way, to say that the state should crack down on people who have multiple sex partners. It is true that there is always a certain inherent risk in such activity, but the state should generally not intervene as long as the activity is consensual – one can’t police everything, and individuals should be allowed, within limits, to take risks and do stupid things. Which is why, under socialism, snowboarding will probably still be a thing, but I digress. To coerce people via a specific industry into performing hazardous acts, which do not in any way grow the real economy, is a completely different matter.)
