    Just curious, what makes Zaporozhye so difficult to defend?

      It has a back to the Dnieper in an area that’s basically a whitewater. If it is even semi-encircled, no supplies will be able to get through. It’s like Kherson (Russia withdrew for that reason) and Stalingrad (the Soviets only won that because they managed to re-encircle it)

      So, the defenders will starve, they’ll have no ammo or medical supplies, etc.
