Hi everyone. I’m trying to find some information about the making of the North Korean movie Pulgasari. I’ve found a comment on Reddit about the story of the kidnapping of the director being made up but who wrote the comment didn’t post anything. Do any of you know anything about it? The story of the kidnapping sounds very strange and I’d like to find some sources about what really happened as facts tend to be twisted up by western propaganda as the time passes.

Thanks in advance.

I’d say unless you find someone who knows how to speak Korean, who lives in North Korea and has access to some sort of historical archive or know of someone who knows something related to it you will not be able to find much relevant information on the topic. I think it sound a bit suspicious but who knows, those were wild times for the country so anything can happen.

Not even about the kidnapping? That element of the story has some international significance

That’s my impression, if you by any means find anything, please share it. I didn’t try too hard to search for it but maybe there’s something?
