If the US ever favoured peace and stability it would have had the 2-state solution done in the 1990s. The US always wanted the conflict to be a managed conflict, but never ending.
While the US has its stated policy, it cannot interfere with sovereign authority without unilateral justification. A 2 state solution needs agreement from Palestinians and Israelis alike. I truly hope this can come to fruition to end the needless loss of life.

Or propped up ISIS over a decade ago and try to overthrow Assad, creating a refugee crisis? Or attempt a failed coup in Xinjiang? Or hell, even in December of 2019 overthrow MAS in Bolivia? Just a few recent examples.

The UN charter gives them the right to self determination. As a Russian minority in a majority-Ukrainian state they have the right to do so.
