A little rant incoming, since I never talked about it in years.
Never cared for NNN. Nofap is basically physical celibacy with westoid incel flavour, an attempt at rebranding what used to be “brahmacharya” physical abstinence practice in Indian Vedas without the incel parts.
I used to be in nofap community for many years, and it has been a good while since I left it behind. I will risk it a little here and see if I can bring in a good take here. Nofap community has a lot of self improvement advice like avoiding porn, eating healthy, exercising, taking cold showers, developing better habits, harnessing your sexual energy into becoming emotionally more healthy socially, athletic mindset and anecdotes and so on. (I consider SR to be helpful because I take cold/lukewarm showers in winters, and SR and keeping masturbation to a minimum keeps away brain fog zombie mode, cold/cough, and all those things. Correct me or pep talk because I never really talked about SR with anyone and most people about it are weird enough to avoid.)
The bad part is majorly the “day counter” thing which makes it a rat race, and allows for devolvement into MGTOW shit. At one point, decade or so ago, when I had incel like mindset, I used to think MRA was somewhat okay. It took me a while to learn and improve and realise something else was going on. I never participated in there for some reason, just read like the rare lurker.
Motivations for NNN and Nofap are also another bad thing in general. Most people only ever see it as a way to up their girlfriend game or whatever (the bigger problem is their social attitude and awkwardness) but for me it was a matter of learning from athlete mindset and becoming a healthier person.
I still suffer from social awkwardness because introversion (INTJ-A) makes sure socialising saps my energy, and I have done a lot of shit to fight it off. There is significant success but maybe I am just a bit coyly and shy and nothing can be done about it. I am not going to become some party animal.
