I live far more like a poor person in Peru whose labor is being extracted by the global north than like a wealthy person in said global north. Even so, you don’t have to live in squalor to have ethical concerns of imperialism. Imperialism is gonna kill the planet, and it has brought about untold suffering to billions. If a selfish motive is necessary, we should all know that global socialist revolution and the destruction of imperial forces will lead to global prosperity for all, instead of less than 1% of the global population.
