So with all the Ukraine fuss the last 2 months I couldn’t really keep up with events there the last couple of weeks. Suddenly there’s Iranian tanks moving towards the border to engage the Taliban and Pakistan has shelled Afghan territory on their shared border.
What’s up with this? What drove those escalations with their neighbors?
Can I get a few sources so I’m up to date on this? I need to remember not to focus on the ukraine war so much.
Border skirmishes with Iran
Fighting between TTP and Pakistan
Don’t know much more than this other than a couple of random tweets and telegram messages about these conflicts, but would like to know more about the reasons for these escalations.
Iran seems to be just average border stabilization, and some lack of communication and coordination. Iran also seems to be opening up relations with the Taliban government. Pakistan on the other hand seems to be of actual concern. Full military excursions into Afghanistan including air strikes. I hope they smooth over relations soon. It seems to mostly be a taliban problem, since they are harboring the Pakistan sector of the Taliban.
