I miss my blissful days as a lib when I could just be like, as a Palestinian American, “oh it’s just the gross stinky meanie butt Republicans that are like this”

Average lib response to Palestine usually have been:

This sucks but people of middle east have been killing each other for thousands of years and it’s just how they are.

Basically they believe that for Europeans deaths of innocent are unnatural and a tragedy but for brown people it’s just in their nature to die and nothing should be done to stop it. At best they just be like “sucks I guess” and then forget about it almost immediately.

Now that you mention it, my Palestinian parent has essentially agreed to this sentiment word for word IIRC (they’re also a lib essentially, if an anomalous one).

I will say when I was a Bernie Sanders lib those types were generally really good on that

I am also from west Asia and I know many people from there who do also believe this. They do not know anything about contemporary history of West Asia, all they know is what westerners told them, so they’ve learned to hate themselves and hate their own culture and worship westerners instead.

If they actually spent time reading some history they’d realize that West Asia has been more peaceful compared to Europe in majority of history and that majority of conflict in West Asia now is due to direct involvement of westerners not because we are genetically predisposed to be violent psychopaths.

It’s crazy how the perception of how the general population of the “3rd world”/Global South/non-West views America & Friends changes as you learn more, going from:

            1. They love us! Duh!
            2. They hate us. They’re jealous of our freedom!
            3. They hate us. And for good reason.
            4. Some of them hate us, for various reasons. But a lot have drank our kool-aid, too.

Internalized racism is a hell of a thing. I guess that’s what some of the most expensive and sustained propaganda campaign in history will buy.
