Man Incels are so weird. I am in a similar boat to a lot of Incels but I still think they are genuine freaks (not for their situation, for their beliefs). I don’t know if empathy is the right word but I feel sorry for them while still despising them. They also frighten me a little bit because in an alternate universe there is a version of me who fell down this rabbit hole and it freaks me out sometimes.

It really seems like the rhetoric and beliefs they hold are among the worst one could want in their shoes as it doesn’t really improve their situation…

If it doesn’t work long enough would they ever change the way they see things? It seems unlikely.

Incels tend to preach suicide over improving their lives. It’s an ideology built on self destruction and it revels in it. Not only self destruction but destruction of others as revenge. It’s not surprising they keep churning out murderers.

It’s less about being “involuntarily celibate” and more so the ideology the permeates the incel community. If I remember correctly “incel” used to just be a descriptor and like a support group for people who longed for intimacy but just haven’t had it, literally involuntary celibacy. It then evolved into the violent ideology it is known for today with phrenology, encouraging suicide and murder.

It’s normal to feel some sort of compassion for these people as the initial pull to the incel community is understandable, but it’s also normal to be disgusted and scared of who they are after. Sure, there may be other universes out there and sure, maybe in one of them you did fall down that rabbit hole, but at the end of the day the you in this universe is the one that matters the most. You didn’t fall down the pipeline and you ended up here.
