There can be decent money in it, but it’s mostly a hobby or side job type deal. Of course the better your writing the better you’ll do.

Yes, usually for Patreon, and sometimes the author commissions a good artist to make a piece for their short story (or vice versa).
There can be decent money in it, but it’s mostly a hobby or side job type deal.
