  • I know what you mean about some of the classic works. Marx’s Capital is dense af for the most part. It’s best to do that stuff with a reading group if possible, and maybe look up some youtube videos to explain the basics of it. Hakim has a short series on Wage Labour and Capital, for example

Parenti is a great choice though! Blackshirts and Reds is a brilliant introductory book. It’s quite short, largely avoids jargon, and is very compellingly written. I’d 100% recommend it.

Support our boy Parenti in his retirement by buying a copy if you can, but if you’re hard up for cash, here’s a free pdf version. He definitely seems like the kind of guy that wouldn’t mind his works getting shared around for free.

I’m currently making my way through Kim Il Sung’s complete works (I’m up to 1946 so far). I get a sense of a very methodical, sensible and incredibly determined revolutionary, but no standout ‘bangers’ so far lol. Lots still to get through tho!

Haha there is nothing “powerful” about any British delegation. A dead empire, clinging to the coattails of its bastard child the USA, which is also declining rapidly now. I was delighted to see Jamaica thoroughly rejecting the Royal family and moving to become a republic by the end of the year too!
