thanks for your answer
I have a question if you don’t mind, what is the difference between the MECW and the Marx Engels Gesamtausgabe (MEGA)?
You’re welcome, I hope it’s useful,
also I gotta talk someday about the debate around policies for fixing the salaries, there is plenty of debate in the PSUV around that issue and it deserves an in depth look, there is some nuance I couldn’t portray with enough detail in this comment that i’d like to explain more ( nothing that would make the PCV look better though)
I want to make a post explaining this in depth but here are a few points to start with (copied from my other thread)
First lets look at the breakup with the PSUV
around 2020 the Venezuelan economy was living its worst moment, we had lost 99% of our income from foreign exchange thanks to the unilateral coercitive measures or UCM this is the official term for sanctions here. source
99%! Imagine if that happened in your country, or to you, if for every 100 dollars you had before now you earn only 1, and you had all your assets confiscated, plus everything else that happened, just look at Europe right now collapsing from a lot less, could the united states survive this? obviously not. So if you ever doubted the revolution tell me which country could survive that and even defeat it that is not revolutionary.
It was around that time that we could finally aprove the anti blockade law, which is one of the many measure made to improve the economy and protect the people’s socioeconomic rights, with the money earned from that going directly into stuff like increasing salaries
But then the PCV, started getting even worse, first they went ultraleft, they claimed the government had turned neoliberal and regressive and created a new neo burgeois pact, that they talked about socialism while wanting to consolidate a burgeois regime and lumping the PSUV in with the rest of the opposition(ignoring all the measure they made to help the poor survive the economic war, the welfare system and that 76% of the country’s budget went into social investment in 2020 ) that they were ignoring the organic law of work and workers, they said the government was reformist because of how the were trying to solve the problems and laws like the special economic zones law (inspired by countries like China Vietnam,Laos, etc). Just to name a few of their claims. naturally this pissed everyone off.
So what did they do then, they decided to try and split from chavismo by creating the popular revolutionary alternative in the 2020 National Assembly election and claiming to be the left opposition. but in reality they were just being opportunistic they tried to coopt the fight for just salaries misleading people, claiming the PSUV was not following chavez legacy and that they could fix the salaries in the country if only they did what the PCV wanted, which wouldn’t have worked because the country doesn’t have the income to magically solve all problems
lack of income was the problem according to Jesus Farias, The now President of the commision of economy of the National Assembly, and he was right in 2020 foreign income was just 477 million dollars, yes you read that right. down from 56.689 million in 2013 when chavez died and the economic war intensified. What could we do without resources? of course work to get them and fix the economy
They say the government should invest in industrializing and in developing the agro field as if that was not being done. And they go against initiatives to get investment as if the government could solve the problems of the people without resources. You can read the laws if you want there is nothing weird, just a lot of unfounded accusations that follow the venezuelan opposition’s rhetoric and only serve to give the right ammo, so right newspapers ended up sayng stuff like “even the PCV has left the maduro regime” this of course doesn’t help at all
they try to make the PSUV seem bad pushing the neoliberal narrative, and even complaining the government is authoritatian and repressive when the PCV can go to elections and get deputies elected in the National Assembly and talk all they want without anything happening, juan guaido is still not in jail, the government gave pardons to a lot of opposition members so they could compete in the election (and lose miserably because everybody hates them) and remember the Venezuelan electoral system is one of the best in the world, with some even calling it the best, and lots of international vouching for its credibility
And now that the laws they were against helped end hyperinflation in the country and give us our first year of economic growth since the UCM began what do they do? double down of course. Up to 20% growth is forecasted for this year
this is not to say that there aren’t good comrades in the PCV (though several of them have left for the PSUV) but lots of people there are like that, especially the leaders like oscar figuera, their general secretary who keeps repeating the opposition’s talking points all the time, hindering the government and aiding the imperialists as a result.
Fortunately the people saw through this and they only got 1 deputy in the National Assembly, claiming to be the left opposition and backstabbing the PSUV left them rightly (in my opinion) considered traitors and oportunists by many. I even thought of joining them for a moment before they pulled this. dodged a bullet.
I see, yes I’m very glad thing have been improving lately, things really got bad for a while, the suffering was inmense but fighting as a revolutionary has greatly helped keep my morale. A lot of people didn’t make it, things got nightmarish and i could talk all day about how bad it was, and still is in some ways thought it is getting better.
But through that the PSUV has always been behind me helping me to keep moving forwards, and besides me helping me to fight the economic war, that is a really important thing, the government can’t magically fix everything, but no matter how bad things got they were there for me, even if they couldn’t do much in some cases, they never left me alone and I will be eternally grateful for that
The new multipolar world is here and you bet Venezuela is ready, they have plenty of plans. we will make Venezuela a power.
I have a lot of posts to make, I’ve gotten plenty of ideas and things I need to explain more in depth. that’s gonna take a while.
Yeah Venezuela has one of the best educational systems in the world, completely free as well. UNESCO recognized Venezuela is the fifth country with the most college enrollment in the world, and second in LatAm alongside Cuba in 2014 and it has gotten better.
Simon Rodriguez(Bolivar’s teacher, educator, pedagogist and philosophist ) is part of the three (sometimes more) roots tree which explains the ideologicall source of Bolivarianism and educators and education are seen as an essential part of the process.
there are fully paid scholarships, to study here and abroad in other countries, everyone has the right to study as much as they want and whatever they want though there are prioritized career right now.
getting an education is so easy that they have managed eliminated lack of placements because there are universities everywhere now. I can literally enter a website, choose 3 careers mandatorily in your chosen priority order (up to six optionally) and get guaranteed placement in university, you can also apply at the university directly.
the problem is some people don’t have enough to pay their living costs if what they want is in another city , scholarships help a lot here if you can get it and if you really want you’re sure to find some way.
You could also get in contact with and join any of the education plans that is also a good option, the government finds a way if you’re willing to work for it you just have to keep trying . Eventually everyone will be able to study whatever they want.
Hi, it’s nice to know the community likes the Revolution. there is a lot that can be said about socialism in Venezuela, I have plenty of books that I need to finish that are filled with good info, most of them are free and can be found on the internet(in spanish).
the governement wants people to read and be informed so they are always releasing books on their websites, social networks, and the state affiliated publishers I will try to post links in a post when I put them all in a single place. There is some excellent literature I wish was also translated for my comrades in here
That is something I like about the Revolution, Before the crisis they used to gift lots and lots of books like the family library to name one example to people in public plazas , reunions, in schools and even in the streets to passersby, my house is filled with them and it was all free. Now they still gift them but mostly as ebooks.
Regarding the economy there is to write about, seriously I want to make several posts on that but for now let me say that now after several years of economic war and unilateral coercitive measures or UCM (The official term for the sanctions) things are finally starting to improve, with the hyperinflation ceasing (though still high) and economic growth being built back.
There are also plans to make venezuela a power by 2030, in the agro and exports areas for example. There is lots of planning being done
I will likely go through the planes de la patria or homeland plans , I also want to debunk the idea that the governement didn’t plan things/diversify the economy and where incompetent…
There is a lot, and i mean a lot being discussed currently, for example all the laws being worked on like the law of communal cities, the law of the national communal parliament, the update on the ancient code of commerce and the recently passed especial economic zones law, just to name a few.
Lots of things are going to come out of venezuela in the future, especially now that the economy is improving and we got the national assembly back.
Losing the national assembly in my opinion was one of the worst things that happened along with the UCM, the legislative power ground to a halt and began trying to sabotage and the UCM began in earnest around that time so the rest of the governement had to compensate and fight back and a lot of laws had to be put in the back
There are a few really good books documenting all that happened in the assembly and my god watching it happen live was surreal and crazy, beyond parody, seriously.
But now a lot of ideas are getting brought back so expect a lot of news, the thing is that most of what happens here is untranslated so people here don’t know, I want to discuss the laws here too I think that will help clarify a lot. I should probably make a retrospective as well
I can help, I am a native spanish speaker and fluent in english just gotta brush up on my redaction skills a bit and I can contribute when I get some free time from university
The blockade didn’t let us pay the membership fees which means we can’t vote
